This and That

Does anyone else have issues with putting their foot in their mouth on a daily basis? Oh. No, neither do I. I don't know how it would reach. Well, actually, I can get my big toe in there. How do I know? Oh, I don't. Wait. What? Movin' on...

I am fascinated by this lion video someone sent to me and I watched today where two people purchased a lion cub that was in a cage at Harrod's and raised the lion from their home. They used a church lawn for exercising the lion they named, "Christian." Then, when Christian got too big to care for, they decided it was time to take him back to Africa, so he could live like other, more normal lions. A year later the couple went back to see if they could find him. People they knew said the lion would be wild and not remember them, because, um, yeah this happens all the time with lions and they'd know. The video is of their reunion. Yes, there were watery eyes. Yes, my watery eyes. It was emotional. The lion was seriously acting like a house cat and Whitney Houston was singing her heart out in the background, which normally would be annoying, if it weren't that it was such a heart-wrenchingly sweet scene, and yeah, it got to me for a minute. So what? I like cats and I like reunion stories.

I was also reminded of my conversation with a few Lincoln Roadies on Saturday night, regarding the domestication, or the effort to do so by people, of wild animals. But hey, it wasn't really a wild animal since they bought him in Harrod's, right? Was Harrod's expecting Michael Jackson to walk in?

There. I tied in cycling with my lion story, and I am pretty sure the African lion reunion happened on a Friday so that would also include playing hooky, as I am certain those people had to take off work to reunite with Christian. And, at least this wasn't another recipe post of the day. Or, do you like those? I have more in the files.

Here's the video:

More important news is that I must admit that I'm not the "Balderdash Queen" anymore. Lindsey dethroned me by 1 point! I will get my crown back in time to trip down the stairs again.

I cannot believe that a certain pork-hatin' individual went on a "bacon ride." I know, I know. To that person, it was a "bacon ride" in name only, since he ate doughnuts, not bacon. But still. I guess tolerance is something we're all learning, since I am aware of a certain wheat based brew made in Kansas City that was probably purchased at Super Saver and was brought over the boundary line by a scheming neighbor on Red Tail and I heard not a peep out of our long haired cyclin' sistah.

Even though gusts of 45 mph were being reported out there, I am riding tonight from Bike Rack.

Anyone else going?

Mupper send off

I'm supposed to head out to Bennetto at 5:15 from the bridge. It's a century riders thing but they encouraged peeps to bring entourages... So, if anyone wants to ride out to Mamasita's again, you know where I'll be.

Anyone?
